Position: Taproom: Manager-in Training
The Manager in Training (MIT) will report to the General Manager (GM) and demonstrate strong interpersonal and managerial skills. Ideal candidate will have experience working in high-volume food and beverage service settings and should be knowledgeable of craft beer and the craft beer industry. In addition to the handling of money and opening and closing the facility, MIT shall ensure all opening, mid-shift, and closing duties are completed by assigned staff members. MIT will be directly responsible for the entire operation and management of Kitchen including meal creation and preparation by MIT with oversight from GM and the Executive Manager (EM). MIT to have input on menu items with final menu decisions from GM and EM. This position is primarily night and weekend work and will require a minimum of 25-30 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Supervision of taproom staff, inventory management, and day-to-day management of the taproom including proper opening, closing and mid-shift procedures
• Work with GM and EM to establish a strong team culture.
  • Assist GM and EM in developing and executing policies and procedures as needed for continuous operational improvement to ensure Richbrau consistently exceeds guest expectations
• In addition to Manager in Training role, MIT will be expected to simultaneously execute beer server and/or chef/meal preparation roles from order through delivery of food to customer.
• Ensure a smooth front-of-house operation at all times, lead and assist staff during all shifts
• Assist Executive Manager and GM with day-to-day needs and projects
• Complete 30 days of training each for the following: Beer Tender, Key Holder, Taproom Assistant Manager
• Complete Cicerone Beer Server Certification (*within first 90 days, cost paid by Richbrau with 1yr commitment)
• Complete the VA ABC Manager’s Alcohol Responsibility Training (MART) (*no cost course within first 30 days)
• Must be able to work nights and weekends

Requirements

• Management and Money Management experience
• Knowledge of craft beer and/or serious interest in understanding craft beer styles and the industry
• Must already have or be willing to complete the VA ABC Manager Certification
• Must already have or be willing to complete the Food Safe Certification as required by VDACS
• Must not be employed nor accept employment by any VA ABC Retail Licensed account while in the employ of Richbrau Brewing

Skills/Qualifications

• Knowledge and understanding of taproom operations
• Self-motivated and ability to follow procedures with little guidance
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and calmly react to and handle stressful situations and customer complaints
• Detail-oriented and ability to accurately manage cash handling and counting
