    Camino Brewing Company in San Jose, CA, is hiring a Head of Taproom and Retail Operations. At this time, we are seeking a Head of Taproom and Retail Operations to lead our customer facing operations into a new phase of growth and expansion.
    Job Title: Head of Taproom and Retail Operations
    Reports to: Ownership
    Job Description: Upon successful completion of our training program, the Head of Taproom and Retail Operations will assume the responsibility as the face of Camino customer experiences for the taproom and online retail stores. In that capacity the Head of Taproom and Retail Operations will be responsible for communicating the Camino story and culture to taproom staff and customers alike. The Head of Taproom and Retail Operations will be responsible for day to day taproom and retail management as described below.     Hours: Full-time, salaried position.
    Salary and Benefits: $50,000 to $100,000 DOE
    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Manages all day-to-day taproom operations including staff scheduling and operations.
    • Responsible for all facets and management of front of house and online retail inventory management through our inventory and online retail systems (Ekos and Square).
    • Collaborates with Production, Head of Events and Food, and Marketing in planning weekly, monthly, and yearly taproom schedules including food vendor schedules, beer releases, select brewery related in-house events like festivals, beer dinners, collaborations, etc. Work with team on marketing and scheduling events.
    • Recruits, interviews, selects, trains, and retains team members dedicated to the Camino customer Experience.
    • Provides a vision for the team and mentors each through development and playing an active role in acquiring new skills to better themselves and the company.
    • Teach and ensure proper pouring practices to eliminate waste/maintain COGs. Safeguards the sale of alcoholic beverages through maintaining staff certifications, providing education and training, and is proactive about recognizing appropriate service of alcohol.
    • Ensures the quality of food and beverages produced meet company and guest standards at all times.
    • Ensures that the space is opened and closed according to company standards and guidelines. Keeping bar organized, clean and all items dated properly
    • Leads a safe, secure, and healthy facility environment for all customers and staff by ensuring that Camino is a Safe Space for all. Establish, follow, and enforce Safe Bars protocols to promote diversity, equality, and inclusion for all.
    • Create, Enforce, and follow appropriate sanitation standards and procedures complying with health and legal regulations and maintaining security systems when applicable.
    • Interact with customers in a friendly and helpful way. Assess customers’ needs and preferences and make recommendations.
    • Routinely audit checkouts to minimize fraudulent activity and hold staff members accountable for proper checkout procedures.
    • Responsible for financial accuracy of sales records and Labor budgets as well as beer & retail inventories. Maintain accurate records and cash handling procedures for all deposits, register banks and change bags. Make sure all registers and change bags have change needed to conduct business.
    • Controls purchasing and par levels of products and supplies in a financially responsible manner without compromising quality of service and products.
    • Maintain communication with ownership and the leadership team through daily recaps and weekly management team meetings.
    Requirements:
    • Requires detailed beer knowledge or the ability and willingness to learn the beer industry.
    Minimum two to five years of Taproom or Retail management.
    • Experience with EKOS, Excel, and XERO or similar production, inventory, and accounting systems.
    • Genuine enthusiasm for beer and hospitality, and desire to continue learning.
    • Possess acute sensory abilities to ensure beer quality.
    • Strong communication skills including an understanding of how to communicate effectively with
    • customers, staff and management.
    • Ability to work well independently and on a team
    • Strong adherence to SOP’s and best practices
    • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
    • Ability to multi-task effectively
    • Ability to work well under pressure
    • Skills and/or aptitude applicable to general maintenance functions, including mechanical, and electrical not required but are a plus.
    • Common sense
    • A valid driver’s license
    • Desire to be an ambassador of the brand and an advocate of our company’s culture and values in the broader craft beer community.
