Packaging lead / cellar person
Velvet Libations is a new brewery part of the Brewery Collective group, located in Wolcott CT, we brew a wide range of beers, focus mostly in creative and “exotic” style beers, sours, mixed fermentation and barrel-aged styles, and experiment with ingredients and processes routinely. We package in 16oz cans with an Alpha 50CPM canning, depelletizer. and we have a 4 head bottling machine for mixed fermentation, we do some bottle conditioning as well.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
As a packaging lead you will be responsible for properly caning all beer! This is a critical step in the brewing process. It involves properly cleaning and sanitizing the equipment and operating a number of machines to ensure a quality final product. You will have great control over how well the machines run and how well the beer is packaged. If you can think on your feet, operate independently, and have some mechanical abilities, please consider this position.
The Packaging Technician is primarily responsible for:
- Operating all canning equipment
- Following all SOP for operating, cleaning, and sanitizing canning equipment
- Performing routine seam check analysis with seam saw and software
- Troubleshooting equipment malfunctions
- Changing equipment over from 12oz to 16oz size
- Equipment maintenance
- Updating and maintaining inventory of products
- Assisting with keg cleaning and other cellar tasks as needed

- Have prior packaging line or factory equipment operating experience
- Be detail-oriented and have excellent problem-solving abilities
- Be a team player and able to help where needed
- assist with cellaring whenever needed.
- Be able to think on their feet under pressure
- Generating invoices
- Following up with production schedule to package products according to distribution specifications, fulfilling shippings and generating BOLs.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
This is a full-time position. Shifts are primarily on weekdays. Shifts are usually 9 to 5. Currently, we do not package on the weekends but it may be necessary at times during the busy season. Applicants must be able to handle full cases of beer routinely and be able to work standing for long periods in a hot and humid environment.
BENEFITS:
This position includes health plan (optional), PTO and Holiday pay, educational opportunities, travel opportunities, and many other soft benefits. $150 allocation for beer and food monthly. Depending on prior experience this position will start pay during a training period at $20.00 - $25.00 per hour, with an increase once the candidate is off training.
