Keel Farms and Keel and Curley Winery, Tampa, FL
What you will do:
This position will lead Keel and Curley Winery and Keel Farms Agrarian Ale and Ciders’ winemaking and brewing operations including fermentation, packaging, QAQC, compliance, safety, facility management, innovation and product development in line with our strategic goals and principles of quality, sustainability, and community.
A successful candidate will have a deep understanding of the entire winemaking process at wineries producing 50K cases or more, maintain a high level of initiative, creativity, problem solving, organization, project management and leadership skills. The candidate should also have familiarization with the commercial brewing process including fermentation, cellaring, and packaging.
Responsibilities:
* Deliver on strategies to solve business issues/needs.
* Lead production team including winemaker, brewer, cellarman, lab and packaging team
* Identify opportunities to improve winemaking and brewing procedures through written SOPs, RACIs, Forms, Templates etc.
* Lead Procurement on all indirect material product purchasing, vendor relationships, contractual obligations and cost saving opportunities. Where applicable, be able to source commercial products, test and analyze ingredients for both wines and beers, process data, report on results and realize cost savings through consolidation
* Stay current on industry trends, technical learnings, and new winemaking and brewing technology.
* Support new product development winemaking as required.
* Responsible for complying with applicable legal, quality, environmental and safety regulatory considerations.
* Lead facility and equipment maintenance program for winery and brewery facilities
* Lead the production facility safety program to ensure the safety of all employees and guests
* Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s Degree Required
* Degree in Enology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Process Engineering or related field preferred
* 8+ years’ experience in Winemaking
* 3-5 years of supervisory experience
* Production experience winery operations required, brewing operations preferred
* Highly Skilled in the use of MS Excel and PowerPoint
* Thorough knowledge of cellar, lab, bottling, and canning operation
* Knowledge of Government Regulations - specifically TTB and state regulations on alcoholic beverage production, and packaging
* Can taste alcoholic beverages and have demonstrated sensory acuity

* Works near moving, mechanical parts and lift truck traffic

* Must be able to work long hours, weekends, and holidays when needed
