    Fair State Brewing Cooperative is seeking a New Product Development Manager to join our staffs in Northeast Minneapolis and St. Paul, MN.

    Fair State is one of a limited number of cooperatively-owned breweries in the US. We began operations at our Northeast Minneapolis brewery and taproom in August 2014, and added a production brewery in St. Paul, MN in 2017.

    The New Product Development Manager is a key role at Fair State that is responsible for the ideation and formulation of new beers, N/A and CBD/THC products, and that will act as the point of contact for co-packing and contract partners. The New Product Development Manager will have an active role at both of our facilities, directly supervising the Innovation Brewer and assuming some brewery management tasks at our taproom brewery in Minneapolis, and working with the rest of the production management team at our St. Paul brewery to bring our brand calendar to life.

    This position reports to the Head Brewer, but will work closely with all of production management, as well as department heads in Marketing/Design and Retail.


    Responsibilities
    • Develops annual brand calendar – year-round products, variety packs, monthly limited releases – including recipes and accurate costing information
    • Manages all New Product Development communication between the entire management team, ensures new products stay on track for release dates
    • Works with Marketing/Design and Sales to provide context and support for products in-market
    • Responsible for developing new NA products – beer, hop water, CBD/THC products, etc.
    • Supervises Innovation Brewer in Minneapolis and works with production management to ensure smooth operation of the NE brewery
    • Works closely with Innovation Brewer and Retail Director to populate the brewery-only release calendar
    • Acts as point of contact for contract and co-packing partners, to ensure the right questions are going to the right people at the right time
    • Effectively communicate all things New Product Development internally to staff, and externally via interviews, podcast, etc., as needed
    • Maintains the New Product Development budget


    Desired Skills and Experience
    • 2+ years in the brewing industry, strong preference for previous production management experience
    • Proven track record of recipe development, successful product launches
    • Knowledge and understanding of NA beer, CBD/THC, other NA product categories
    • Creative, open-minded, curious, and able to master new processes quickly
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to juggle multiple things
    • Experience with Microsoft Office products, Orchestrated Beer preferred

    Requirements
    • At least 21 years of age as of time of application
    • Able to stand for prolonged periods
    • Able to stoop, crawl, twist, turn, lift, kneel, climb ladders and stairs
    • Able to manipulate valves and clamps
    • Able to regularly lift/carry heavy objects (55 lbs.) repeatedly and safely above waist-level
    • Able to occasionally move heavy objects (165 lbs.)
    • Able to work in a factory environment which may be loud, hot, humid, cold, or slick
    • Able to work in a fast-paced environment with high-pressure deadlines and time constraints
    • Able to comply with safe chemical handling procedures, including personal protection equipment such as gloves and goggles
    • Able to safely work on ladders and elevated platforms and in confined spaces
    • Able to safely operate vehicles and material handling equipment (e.g., vans, trucks, hand trucks, scissor lifts, forklifts, pallet jacks)
    • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass insurance driving record review for operating Company-owned vehicles on public roads


    Compensation and Benefits

    This is a full-time, salaried position compensated at $55,000-$60,000 annually. As a full-time employee, this role is also eligible for:
    • 8 paid holidays (New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Day)
    • Paid Time Off, which can be used for any purpose and is accrued at a rate of 0.0769 hours of PTO per hour worked (4 weeks per year)
    • Paid parental leave (160 hours of paid parental leave in the 12 months following, or the 9 months prior to, the birth, adoption, or foster placement of a child in your home)
