    JOB TITLE: Cellar Manager
    DEPARTMENT: Production
    REPORTS TO: Brewmaster
    EFFECTIVE DATE: 11/15/2022

    Scofflaw Brewing Company seeks a Cellar Manager to lead the cellar team of one of the largest and fastest growing breweries in the South East. Preferred candidates will possess 3+ years experience working in a high paced production brewery and familiar with all facets of working in the cellar.

    Responsibilities: It is the responsibility of the Cellar Manager to maintain the highest standard in all aspects of the brewery and cellar including training, cellar work, recordkeeping, planning, filtration, brewing and maintenance. The Cellar Manager must train and perform all cellar duties within best practices and uphold the most current industry standards and company standard operating procedures. Candidate must be enthusiastic about the brewing industry and must be passionate about great beer.

    • Mastery of all cellar related tasks (Tank CIP, Centrifuge/Filter Operation, Yeast Harvesting, Dry Hopping and Product Carbonation)
    • Manage cellar tasks and procedures in Orchestrated Beer
    • Oversee planned and unplanned maintenance of cellar equipment
    • Make sure the cellar is properly maintained and cleaned
    • Manage cellar task planning, labor scheduling, and individual performance
    • Maintain accurate standard operating procedures, logs, and safety documentation
    • Ensure team is compliant with company polices and safety guidelines
    • Communicate effectively and timely using either email, phone, text or verbal tools

    Additional Responsibilities

    • Lead training and management of all cellar personnel and production scheduling.
    • Validate timecards for department personnel.
    • Perform facility-specific duties as required or assigned.
    • Support other departments when situations warrant and make connections between processes.



    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Demonstrate leadership and facilitate communication between departments.
    • Full understanding of cellar operations as related to producing quality beer.
    • Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and ability to multi-task.
    • Communicate effectively and demonstrate willingness to ask questions before proceeding with uncertainty.
    • Demonstrate responsible and well-informed decision making.

    Physical & Mental Requirements

    Must have the physical and mental strength and endurance to be able to perform duties, in at times extreme environments, as well as the ability to handle stressors of the position in operational and administrative situations. Required to frequently lift and move 10-75 pounds. Expected to stand, sit, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, bend, talk, hear, taste, smell, see, and operate objects, tools, and controls. May be required to manage and support weekend and overnight shifts.

    EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES REQUIRED:
    • Ability to work flexible hours, nights and weekends if needed.
    • You must be at least 21 years old to work at Scofflaw Brewing Company.
    • 3+ years working in a brewery, winery, or distillery strongly preferred.
    • High School diploma or GED equivalency
    • Strong attention to detail.
    • Ability to come to work with a positive attitude and arrive promptly every day.
    • Ability to simultaneously perform multiple tasks/procedures.
    • Ability to communicate and work effectively in a team setting and individually.
    • Must comprehend and adhere to safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and product recipes/material identifications.
    • Must be able to effectively communicate and read in English.
    • Must have manual dexterity sufficient to operate a wide variety of small hand tools, and computer equipment.
    • Enthusiasm and strong personal knowledge of the brewery industry and market is preferred.
    • Ability to work well with superiors and co-workers in a manufacturing and office/warehouse environment.
    • Ability to change tasks quickly and still maintain attention.
    • Ability to regularly lift, push, or pull up to 170 pounds.
    • Ability to stand/move on their feet for 8 hours a day.
    • Mechanical aptitude and experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
