Schilling Beer Co. is growing and seeking a Financial Controller. The Financial Controller (FC) oversees and is responsible for the accounting operations of Schilling Beer Co. and reports to the CEO. The FC provides financial reports and analysis to the CEO; ensures all financial operations of our manufacturing, wholesale, and retail businesses run smoothly; oversees all accounting and bookkeeping operations to maintain accuracy and reliability; submits and/or presents reports in-full and in a timely manner; and finds ways to increase efficiencies and profitability.
The FC must be familiar with and able to leverage recent financial and accounting technologies to make financial operations efficient company-wide. The FC supervises an administrative assistant that handles data entry and junior bookkeeper tasks.
Other responsibilities include:
• Manages all finance processes and accounting-related activities
• Executes senior-level bookkeeping activities, ensuring the books and financial reports are accurate at all times
• Advises the CEO and leadership teams on: healthy cash flow and profitability, financial risk management, and budgets.
• Manages payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, balance sheets, etc.
• Manages external audits and relationship with external accountant
• Ensures compliance and good-standing with tax liabilities
• Prepares & monitors budgets for approval company-wide
• Provides budget analysis and financial planning, including pro-forma income statements
• Establishes & monitors internal controls
• Tracks company spending
• Optimizes software integration to be efficient and effective
• Leads, manages, and holds accountable all administrative and accounting staff
• Acts as the point of contact for all third-party HR, fringe benefit and insurance vendors (401k, General and Commercial Liability Insurance, Workers Compensation Insurance, Health Insurance, etc.) and advises the CEO on these matters.
• Acts as the point of contact for all banking relationships
Any FC candidate should have experience as a financial controller and as a bookkeeper/accountant and is preferably familiar with the accounting needs of the beverage manufacturing and restaurant industries.
Ideal candidates have technological experience not only with QBO, but also some or all of the following platforms: EKOS (our production management software), Toast (our point-of-sale software), Toast Payroll (our integrated 3rd-party payroll software) and MarginEdge (our food & beverage management software).
All candidates must be able to multitask, prioritize, and streamline existing and outdated systems while being willing to grow alongside a fast-paced, growth-oriented company. A standout FC has the interpersonal and communication skills to train managers on new systems and provide constructive input to executives and managing partners.
Minimum requirements: BA/BS in Finance with bookkeeping experience and strong knowledge of accounting fundamentals, or a degree in Accounting with Financial Controller/Comptroller experience. CPA preferred.
