    Company Overview:

    The Alpine Goat Brewery is a brand new farm brewery located at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia. We are committed to high-quality craft beers inspired by beer culture of the Alps for our guests to enjoy in a welcoming atmosphere, with stunning scenery and delicious food. We are brewing up and sharing Alpine vibes with the Shenandoah valley.

    Position Summary

    We are seeking a dynamic people manager who is energized by connecting with customers and staff to create an enthralling experience for everyone who comes to The Alpine Goat Brewery. This is an opportunity to infuse passion and creativity into our front of house operations, as we build a team, a space, and the guest experience. The successful candidate will have a passion for food, beer, and people, demonstrated skill in hospitality leadership, and creativity to attract and retain the customers and staff who make our business.

    The Taproom Manager will be responsible for setting up then managing all aspects of the taproom and the customer experience it creates. The role reports to the Director of operations, who will collaborate to build systems, set targets, and remove barriers. Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with experience, and include an attractive benefits package.

    Definition of Success:
    • Expertly spin up front of house operations to create an exceptional and memorable customer experience from our Grand Opening onwards
    • Successfully recruit, hire, and train a Front of House team capable of delivering exceptional customer service in the first 30 days of employment.
    • Manage the POS system for a sales-enhancing customer and staff use experience
    • Implement a taproom event series maintaining momentum from our grand opening to create buzz, sales, and a loyal customer base
    • Over the first 60 days work with support hiring of head cook, collaborate on the food menu, and commission kitchen operations

    Activities and Expectations:
    • Build and manage all aspects of the taproom operations, including staff scheduling, inventory management, ordering, and service delivery
    • Be present during operational hours of the taproom and spend a significant amount of time on the floor leading staff, managing operations, and interacting with customers
    • Lead a positive, fun, and inclusive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner which develops and sustains positive relationships with customers and co-workers.
    • Lead by example and continuously improve service quality and efficiency through creation and enforcement of policies and procedures
    • Plan and execute taproom events to promote the brewery and drive customer engagement.
    • Manage and respond to all outside communication via email, social media, etc.
    • Meet weekly with Director of Operations to build systems, solve issues, and drive continuous improvement across the taproom operations


    Our dream candidate would have all of the following, but we are open to candidates with a wide variety of backgrounds, skills, and experience. At the end of the day, we want to know that you can manage an efficient team with a positive culture, which creates an outstanding and profitable customer experience.
    • 3 years of experience in food and beverage service, with at least 1 year of experience in a leadership role.
    • Must be legally eligible for employment in Alcoholic beverage service in Virginia
    • Strong knowledge of bar and restaurant operations and management
    • Ability to build and manage a high performing team.
    • Discipline and energy to self-manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
    • Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends and evenings as needed.
    • Proficiency in Point of Sale (POS) systems, inventory management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Physical ability to lift heavy objects, stand for long periods, and move furniture as required.

    Position Type: Full-time, Salaried with benefits
    Location: Weyers Cave, Virginia
    Compensation: $50k - $60k gross total compensation depending on experience and qualifications
    Start Date: mid-January 2024
