    2nd Shift Industrial Fermentation Supervisor (similar to shift supervisor)

    Position Summary: Primary function of this position is to plan, schedule, execute, and troubleshoot production runs, equipment, and core production staff functions. Responsibilities include collaborating with Fermentation Manager on continuous improvement innovations, new process development, equipment commissioning, SOP standardizations, training new employees, process troubleshooting, and decisions and actions relating to production monitoring. Responsible for maintaining the Production Fermentation area in good working order including ordering supplies, organization, cleaning, and coordinating with Fermentation Operators, QC staff, maintenance staff, and Fermentation Manager.

    Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
    • Coordinate with Management and Fermentation team to generate details of department schedule, oversee schedule execution and accomplishment of departmental goals.
    • Oversee day-to-day operations on 2nd shift.
    • Ensure SOPs are adhered to, and documentation is filled out fully and correctly by Fermentation Team.
    • Ensure work areas are kept in clean professional shape by Fermentation Team.
    • Lead by example, embodying strong worth ethic, a level head, and good-natured professionalism.
    • Work with management to fix errors and improvise solutions to address process failures.
    • Streamline workflow, ensure work areas are kept clean and organized, adapting to changing conditions on the floor while maintaining 5S standards.
    • Work closely with Management team, Maintenance team, and contractors as necessary to advance department goals.
    • CIP, prepare batch, sterilize, monitor, and process production-scale fermenters. This includes (but not limited to) media preparation, probe calibration, pH adjustment, batch sterilization/autoclaving, inoculum preparation, centrifugation, spray drying, etc. as directed by the Fermentation Manager.
    • Troubleshoot process and perform basic PM and repairs on equipment.
    • Assist with efforts in other departments when needed.
    • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
    • Maintain impeccable notes and logs.
    • Work well as a team with fermentation, lab, and maintenance personnel.
    • Shift work will be required.

    • Ability to juggle multiple tasks and prioritize workload.
    • Ability to work well as part of a team.
    • Ambition to master and improve fermentation department.
    • Responsible, organized and good work ethic

    Education and/or Experience: Bachelor of Science preferred, but not essential. Industrial experience preferred.

    Computer Skills: Microsoft office tools such as including Excel, Word, and Outlook. Previous work with a process control system/automation software.

    Physical Demands: Employee must lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
