Backward Flag Brewing is 100% Veteran Owned and operated.
This position will supervise all areas of the Backward Flag Brewing tap room as well as
working closely with marketing, events, and production staff. The chosen applicant will work
on the upkeep of the tap room and surrounding area, tend the bar in our tap room, and
make retail sales during open hours. Success in this position will be founded in the attention
to the customer experience when visiting Backward Flag Brewing. Patrons should be
educated on craft beer, our brewing process, and our unique background as a 100%
Veteran Owned company. Candidate must be a self-motivated individual, who executes on a
high level and can collaborate with multiple work groups, successfully multitasks, and does
not shy away from initiative. Candidates with a military or first responder background
are highly desirable.
The Tap Room Manager will also supervise staff working in the tap room, manage and
coordinate inventory with brewery production workers, execute a variety of events
throughout the year, and assist in the strategic planning and budgeting for the tap room.
A large percentage our beer is sold face to face in our tap room, and as such we place great
importance on customer service and perceived value. We are looking for someone to
provide the best “beer experience” possible!
The ideal candidate loves craft beer, eager to learn, is extremely organized and detail
oriented, and is responsible as well as hard working. Position will be 30-40 hours and
weekends are required.
· A strong desire to collaboratively lead the direction of the taproom experience while
staying up to date on current market and industry trends and opportunities
· Maintain a clean, friendly, and welcoming environment for all guests at all times
· Focus on creating Backward Flag fans for life, and creating a personal connection to the
· Actively engaging customers, encouraging retail sales, and resolves customer questions
and concerns
· Conducting fun and energetic tours of the brewery, as needed
· Hiring, training, scheduling, and managing tap room staff
· Maintains direct sales via POS systems, credit card, cash handling
· Oversee tasting room budget, daily sales reports, monthly sales, and forecasting
· Creation and execution of Standard Operating Procedures for reordering needs and
inventory stock levels
· Communicating beer and merchandise needs for inventory
· Completing weekly and monthly inventory tasks for production team
· Develop a lead beer server training program and lead all Day One on boarding orientation
for new hires
· Sensory Panel Participant
· Ability to move kegs and operate a hand truck
· Other duties as assigned
· Previous brewery or craft beer experience preferred · Hospitality experience is a plus · Retail experience required- both back and front of house experience
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS · Working knowledge of and interest in the craft beer industry and major beer styles · Proven success in a retail environment, commitment, and motivation to the brand · Ability to interact professionally and effectively with employees and the general public · Experience in a fast-paced work environment, ability to adapt and flexibility is key · Strict attention to detail · Ability to lead, manage, and supervise staff · Advanced computer literacy- excel, word, outlook, square, etc. · Events planning and coordination experience · Time management and schedule management · Ability to lift up to 55lbs is required · Willingness to work on weekends is required
