    About Us:

    Silversmith Brewery Company is the realization of founders and craft beer aficionados, Chris Pontsieon and Matt Swan. Following their purchase and renovation of St. John’s Anglican Church in Niagara on the Lake in March of 2012, Silversmith Brewery was born. Silversmith brewery opened the doors of it new home and poured its first beers on Canada Day in 2012.

    The Church is now home to not only a Brewery and Beer Hall, but also passionate and knowledgeable folks who are itching to provide an incredible beer experience like none other. Silversmith proudly redefines not only the craft beer experience but tourism in Niagara. They’ve created a space where travelers and locals alike meet and seek refuge over a delicious brew.


    The Role:

    Silversmith Brewery is looking for a Sales Representative to join our growing and passionate brewery team. This individual will act as a Silversmith Ambassador, representing the brand for both retail and on-premise accounts. The Silversmith Sales Representative supports both our Retail (LCBO, The Beer Store, Grocery, etc.) and On-Premise (local pubs and restaurants) accounts. As the "face" of our craft beers, you will be responsible for building and growing our business relationships with local bars and restaurants, as well as with LCBO, grocery store, and Beer Store managers and staff.

    You must be passionate about the Craft Beer Industry and share our enthusiasm to bring great people together, to ferment fantastic ideas, and to build a community that values craft beer and one another.


    Responsibilities and Duties:
    • Establish a deep understanding of Silversmith’s brewery and business operations, including internal processes, strategic objectives, and competitive landscape.
    • Identify and develop new business opportunities and business relationships, as well as identify growth opportunities in our current client base, to expand revenue, profitability, and market share in both retail and on-premise accounts.
    • Manage the sales territory within the Niagara and Golden Horseshoe area.
    • Develop and maintain effective customer relations with both retail and on-premise accounts while promoting the Silversmith brand.
    • Establish our brand position in new markets and venues, on shelves and in coolers in retail settings, on tap in on-premise settings.
    • Maintain a regular schedule of appointments with accounts throughout the assigned territory.
    • Responsible for understanding the local business dynamics and leading all consumer-focused retail programs, ultimately delivering increased volume growth.
    • Ensure accounts are adequately and properly merchandised with the most current POS materials.
    • Identify, create and manage, value-added initiatives and programs across accounts, including but not limited to tastings, incentives, customer education programs, and events.
    • Follow-up on all service related issues and opportunities in a thorough and timely manner.
    • Update team on issues related to competitive activity and initiatives taken to overcome the challenges.
    • Develop and maintain close and effective working relationships with all supporting members within the Silversmith team.
    • Regular travel throughout the designated territory/region to strengthen existing relationships with accounts and to build new business relationships.
    • Track business activities and achievements and provide in-depth reporting & market analysis to the Silversmith management team.

    Key Responsibilities Retail (LCBO/The Beer Store/Grocery)
    • Build and maintain relationships with key decision makers in each retail channel.
    • Maintain a regular call cycle and prioritize face-time with high revenue outlets.
    • Use data to ensure the right product mix and formats are present in each channel/banner.
    • Optimize Silversmith’s visibility by ensuring premium shelf/fridge placement, strategic product grouping (brand blocking) and discretionary display placement.
    • Increase overall distribution in each channel through consultative and fact-based selling.
    • Conduct staff tastings and training.
    • Ensure promotional campaigns are executed with excellence and tracked appropriately.
    • Support and contribute to overall business objectives and dynamics.
    • Merchandising as required.

    Key Responsibilities On-Premise
    • Manage marketing support budget
    • Manage new product launches
    • Execute promotional programs
    • Collect competitive information from the field
    • Support and contribute to overall business objectives and dynamics.
    • Analyze and assess event opportunities within territory geography. Prepare recommendations for events which will enhance brand awareness and drive revenue.
    • Manage all aspects of event execution.
    • Perform other duties, as required.

    The ideal candidate will have:
    • Completion of post-secondary education in a related field is preferred.
    • Prior experience in beverage sales and a strong understanding of the hospitality industry.
    • Extensive knowledge of the craft beer industry and a passion for all things beer.
    • Knowledge of the rules and regulations of the alcohol industry.
    • An understanding of the LCBO alcohol industry and related experience with on-premise accounts and knowledge of draught beer are major assets.
    • A thirst for knowledge – desire to constantly be learning about beer styles and brewing processes, and being excited to share that knowledge with our customers and consumers.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills – commitment to building effective internal and external relationships.
    • Proven problem solving and negotiation skills with a demonstrated ability to adapt and deal effectively with both customers and peers.
    • The drive to win as a team – collaborating to achieve success.
    • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
    • A willingness to lift the occasional keg or case of beer! (Up to 40lbs)
    • A reliable vehicle and clean driving record.
    • Smart Serve certification.
    • Work from home with the flexibility to travel to Niagara and the Golden Horseshoe Region.

    This position is a permanent, full-time position which may require some evening and weekend work to support events and meet with clients.
