    The primary responsibility of the Sales Analyst is to use data and thorough analysis to answer the hard, open-ended questions required to operate, develop, and grow Surly business. Impactful analysis and research are more than compiling statistics; it requires expertise to interpret findings and translate analyses into actionable business recommendations. The Sales Analyst will assist in developing and preparing sales presentations, utilizing fact-based data from multiple sources (VIP, IRI), and present ideas internally and externally as needed. This individual will help the team through a detailed analysis of customer, consumer, and market data to improve sales, marketing, production, product development, and operational effectiveness.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    • Support surly brewing company core values, purpose, and philosophies.
    • support vp of sales, regional sales managers, and surly market managers by providing routine sales reporting, ad hoc support, and sales/share/pricing analysis, drilling into root causes of performance gaps
    • build and maintain volume forecast mechanisms using a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods
    • provide actionable insights that support data-driven results for sales team
    • develop, integrate, and provide account or brand-specific forecasts for internal sales and operations planning
    • maximize account sales and inventory turns by forecasting consumer demand and developing optimal product assortments and replenishment inventory strategies
    • keep abreast of external market factors, trends, and research that may impact business decisions as needed
    • provide analysis and interpretation of internal/external market data, highlighting underlying trends, to identify new market opportunities and recommend strategies to increase profitability
    • report on and analyze planned versus volume variances by using available resource
    • lead the analytical efforts for the sales team
    • use syndicated data (i.e., iri) and appropriate tools to identify trends in the market share and distribution in order to drive business
    • communicate regularly with sales reps and distributor partners for various sales data requests
    • work with cross functional teams to help develop best practices for data and analytics
    • creates reports and dashboards of sales performance to sales/distributor/production teams on a weekly/monthly/quarterly cadence
    • develop, track, monitor and communicate key performance indicators (kpi’s) and trends related to them
    • Effectively assist in planning and executing sales strategies as determined by vp of sales and regional sales manager to maximize distribution and volume.
    • coordinate with regional and market managers in completing new item forms, integrating items into vip, and communicating with production teams for forecasting

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
    • bachelor’s degree preferred
    • previous experience working in the three tier distribution system with an alcohol supplier or wholesaler, preferably in a sales, cpg, purchasing/inventory management role
    • technical capabilities in manipulating data and managing the creation and modification of analytical tools
    • ability to successfully manage multiple projects
