    Job purpose

    Due to the competitive landscape of the craft beer industry in San Diego, Duck Foot Brewing Company has decided it is absolutely necessary to have its own sales team to get the name out to the beer consumers. The Duck Foot Beer Slangers main purpose is to place/sell our brand into bars, restaurants and key accounts.

    Duties and responsibilities

    • Field Sales Activity within assigned territory
    o Make frequent sales calls to potential on and off premise accounts within assigned territory
    o Make frequent account visits to existing on and off premise account to build a closer relationship between the account and Duck Foot Brewing Company
    o Report minimum of 60 account visits per week while keeping our sales software of choice up to date
    o Must properly deliver the message of the Duck Foot Brewing brand and promote relevance in the local market
    o Must identify prospective customers by using business directories, following leads from existing clients, participating in organizations and clubs, and attending tradeshows, training, and/or beer festivals
    o Manage the growth and development of Duck Foot Brewing in a defined geography of key accounts while ensuring that the Duck Foot Brewing brand is never compromised
    o Monitor market conditions, product innovations, and competitors’ products, prices, and sales.
    • Existing Account Support
    o Must recommend products to customers based on customers’ needs and interests
    o Must answer customers’ questions about products, prices, and availability
    o Assist accounts with proper inventory management and quality standards
    o Provide Duck Foot production information and training to accounts as needed
    o Deliver kegs when needed
    o Provide draft line maintenance when needed
    • Sales Reporting
    o Daily upkeep of CRM software
    o Daily upkeep of Route accounting software
    o Perform administrative duties, such as preparing sales budgets and reports, keeping sales records, and filing expense account reports
    o Daily up keep of all customer contact information in Ekos (including all buyer contact information.
    • Event Management
    o Seek opportunities to host promotional events at existing accounts
    o Attend in-house special events
    o Attend and pour at off-site beer festivals
    o Work directly with Duck Foot management in planning and execution of events
    • In-house Sales Activity
    o Filling sales sample bottles when needed
    o Interacting with management and brewery team to evaluate success of sales activity and specific brews
    o Keeping management informed on swag supply Matt – are they managing an inventory of swag?


    • Must be over the age of 21
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
    • Craft beer sales experience preferred
    • Must reside within assigned territory
    • Must have valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and a clean driving record Matt – does the vehicle need to be able to transport product?
    • Must own a smart phone/computer to send and receive text messages, email, and to communicate with Management, Clients, and prospective clients
    • Must have current certification of Cicerone (level two) or Cicerone Certified Beer Server (level one)
    • Must be familiar with the California brewing industry and the distributors that operate in the assigned counties
    • Must have good public speaking, record keeping, and business communication skills
    • Requires basic computer competence in word, excel, and email

    Working conditions

    • This position requires employee to work flexible hours and days including nights and weekends
    • This position requires employee to manage/balance visits within a large geographical territory

    Physical requirements

    • Must be able to frequently lift 50lbs and occasionally maneuver 160lb kegs
