    Job Summary:
    Primary responsibility is the daily execution of all Quality Assurance processes. This includes all product testing, field testing, and data tracking. This team member must have a drive for continuous improvement in all processes, logical problem-solving skills, and the desire to lead by example.



    Responsibilities and Measure of Performance:

    Quality Assurance
    • Daily testing of all products in all departments.
      • Fermentation monitoring
      • Pressed juice analysis and tracking per variety
      • Branding specs and tolerances
      • Pre-package product analysis
      • Package product analysis
      • Product library interval analysis
      • Market sample testing
      • New Product stress testing
    • Data Recording
      • Records all data relevant to each product
      • Create new data collection points for all process and recipe development
    • Yeast Management
      • Yeast propagator management
      • Cell counts and pitch rates accurate
      • Feed Yeast appropriately for maximum cell growth and health
      • Properly administer nutrients to maximize cell growth and health
    • Quality Incidents
      • Investigation
      • Testing
      • Reporting and recording data
      • Customer complaints
      • Customer communication
    • Quality Assurance Development
      • Bacterial and yeast plating program

    SOP
    • Lab SOPs updated and filed correctly
    • New SOPs created for new processes
    • Ensure all employees understand SOP processes
    • Certify qualified employees for lab SOPs

    Inventory
    • Evaluate and maintain appropriate consumable inventory levels
    • Accurate inventory control in Obeer software

    Cost Analysis
    • All ingredient and product costs are known, and all costs are tracked in Obeer.
    • All product purchasing is quoted, and all costs are known prior to purchasing.
    • All new products costing is estimated prior to trials
    • All new product costing is confirmed and recorded after trials.

    General
    • Stay up to date with industry trends, techniques, and products.
    • All paperwork is diligently completed in an accurate and timely manner
    • Ensure all team mates are working efficiently
    • Produce R&D ciders when available to do so.
    • Assist cellar production when available
    • Conducts himself/herself in a professional and cooperative manner
    • Maintains professional appearance all times.
    • Fully completing assigned tasks, or seeking assistance when needed
    • Overall Cleanliness and ability to follow processes
    • Whenever a mistake is made, a solution on how to ensure it will never happen again must be implemented
    • Follows all safety protocols
    • Utilizes time in an efficient and effective manner
    • Makes a positive contribution to the team through attitude, ideas, and work ethic.


    Qualifications, Skills & Requirements:
    • Required: High school diploma or equivalent
    • Preferred, Degree in food science, microbiology ect.
    • TTB Chemist certification a plus
    • Experience working with 150 bbl + batches
    • Well-developed tasting skills – Non-Smokers are highly preferred
    • Preferred, In-depth understanding of major aspects of cider making, beer brewing, laboratory procedures, bottling and production workflow
    • Computer proficient in Excel, Access and Word
    • Ability to professionally and politely resolve all product issues & complaints.
    • Good organizational, planning, and presentation skills
    • Clear commitment to high quality and attention to details
    • Able to work independently with minimum supervision
    • Ability to lead, train, and supervise others
    • Ability to frequently and repeatedly lift full kegs. (165#s)
    • Must have the ability to be on your feet for an entire shift.




    Working Conditions:
    • The work for this position will be in a climate controlled, smoke free environment.
    • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate with some periods being loud.
    • Work will be performed as per the schedule you create for the team. Some weekend work required as needed.
