    Position: Packaging Manager

    Location: San Francisco, CA
    Type: Full Time, FLSA Exempt, Salary
    Reporting to: Director of Supply Chain and Logistics
    Experience: 3-5 years
    Functions: Production
    Industries: Beer

    SUMMARY:

    This position reports to the Director of Supply Chain and Logistics and has responsibility for managing the day-to-day operations of the Packaging Department as well as other strategic objectives of the Production Department. Oversees all employees operating in the packaging department and is responsible for the equipment maintenance and function.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Maintain a safe work environment and ensure all packaging employees adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
    • Creates staffing schedules for the packaging department and manages staffing levels to meet production requirements. Schedule updates must be produced 24 hours before shift start.
    • Ensure product quality meets company requirements.
    • Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in packaging beer for storage or shipment.
    • Maintain targeted production efficiency for the production lines.
    • Manage continuous improvement efforts in Packaging Department.
    • Trains staff in safe operation of equipment.
    • Maintain all packaging equipment and supplies by being able to recognize visual and audible cues signaling machinery performance issues.
    • Develops and maintains SOPs for safety, and ensures all record keeping, SOPs, and logs are accurate and up to date.
    • Be a liaison between the Packaging Department and Human Resources and Payroll related to time, attendance, and payroll issues.
    • Perform and follow-up on disciplinary actions with employees.

    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & ATTITUDE:
    • A thorough understanding of safety issues and safe operation of all equipment and facilities is required.
    • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
    • Experience in a bottling and canning environment required.
    • The ability to be flexible and handle multiple tasks in a high stress environment.
    • Mechanical aptitude and technical abilities are required.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to operate according to established procedures.
    • Detail oriented with superior organizational and time management skills.
    • Good people management skills are required.
    • Ability to delegate, lead the packaging crew by example and make difficult decisions when necessary

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
    • The candidate must be able to stand for extended periods of time, reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. The position also requires that the candidate move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds with or without assistance.

    COMPENSATION, BENEFITS & PERKS:
    • Pay Range: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 DOE
