    Vermont Cider Company is looking to employ talented individuals on our team who are self-motivated, positive and energetic. If this sounds like you, we encourage you to apply for our open Purchasing Agent position!

    The Purchasing Agent is responsible for overseeing the purchasing functions of the company. This includes but is not limited to researching the marketplace to obtain the highest quality product at the lowest cost, research new vendors, negotiate material prices, and resolve delivery problems.

    Responsibilities:
    • Build and maintain good business vendor relationships and seek out new or alternate vendors as required.
    • Prepare and mail complete and accurate purchase orders according to company guidelines.
    • Expedite and follow up on purchase orders as requested.
    • Resolve order and billing discrepancies in coordination with accounting/vendors and respond to inquiries on any material received.
    • Prepare and transmit requests for quotes for items to be purchased.
    • Ensure vendors can provide products that meet the necessary internal technical requirements.
    • Process returned purchased items that are not acceptable or do not meet specifications.
    • Interface with management concerning new products and forecast for new and existing products.
    • Maintain purchasing library to include paper/computer files and purchasing history files.
    • Initiate and distribute change notices for purchased items such as changes in specifications, part numbers and sources.
    • Interface with Shipping/Receiving regarding incoming and outgoing shipments.
    • Attend and participate in meetings to ensure customer requirements are met.
    • Participate in physical inventory on an annual basis.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned.


    Requirements
    • Associates Degree.
    • High math and reading skills.
    • Prior purchasing experience in a raw material or component environment required.
    • Written, verbal and presentation communication skills.
    • Computer Literate, with working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
    • Project Management, planning, time management and organizational skills.
    • Diplomacy and negotiation skills.
