Job Title: Maintenance Electrician
Department: Maintenance
Reports To: Maintenance and Facilities Engineer
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Hours: 8+ hours/40 hour week; flexible shifts / on-call rotation schedule
Work schedule may include nights, weekends and holidays.

Position Description:
The Maintenance Electrician will work independently and with other plant personnel to perform preventative and predictive maintenance tasks. This position will provide a technical role for automation, programming, controls, instrument and electronic diagnostics. This person will also be responsible for installation and repair of production and facilities equipment. The successful candidate understands and interprets process drawings, installs programs and maintains and repairs programmable logic controllers, motor control systems and control networks within the brewery. All work will be performed to support the policies, goals objective and culture of Highland Brewing Co.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Install, program, maintain and troubleshoot PLCs motor control systems, communication systems and control networks.
• Troubleshoot instrumentation, temperature, pressure, and flow control loops.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and replace electrical components such as relays, switches, motors, servos, encoders, position sensors and other control devices.
• Install and replace electrical motors, motor starters, fuses, disconnects, etc.
• Bend and install conduit; pull and terminate wiring.
• Repair or replace control devices such as switches, photo eyes, proximity sensors, pushbuttons, contactors, motor starters and transmitters as needed.
• Perform work order repairs, inspections, and adjustments and interact with a CMMS to record work order details.
• Perform daily / shift rounds on equipment, utilities (boilers, chillers, air compressors) and the facility.
• Work directly with production personnel to identify and resolve equipment issues.
• Assist maintenance and facilities personnel with other repairs when needed such as fabrication or assembly.
• Install, remove, repair, modify, or replace new or existing machines and equipment.
• Set up and operate machine tools such as drill press, conduit bender, grinder, and other hand tools necessary to complete a repair or installation.
• Know, understand and be compliant with the Confined Space Entry, LOTO and arc flash procedures.
• Read, understand and work from P&IDs, ladder logic, one-line prints, equipment cut sheets and manufacturer-provided drawings.
• May operate forklift, or other mobile equipment (e.g. scissor lift, articulated boom).
• Perform housekeeping functions both in the shop and on the job site to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Perform other duties and take on other responsibilities as required.

Education:
• Associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school. Electrical Systems Technology preferred
• Two years related experience

Experience:
• Experience with programming, automation software, PLCs, VFDs and digital and 4-20ma controls is required along with broad knowledge of industrial electrical systems and power distribution.
• Previous brewing or food/beverage processing background preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Show initiative to perform duties beyond assignment-specific duties.
• Skilled in English oral and written communication skills
• Competent with the Microsoft Office suite of programs (i.e. Word, Excel, and Outlook).

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
• Performance of the essential duties will require physical ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs and ladders, use of construction personnel hoists, ability to negotiate work areas under construction.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Performing this job requires use of hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls and the ability to sit, talk, hear, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Employee must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• While performing the duties of this job the employee regularly works on-site at the brewery where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock.
• The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud.
