Oskar Blues Brewery is looking to hire a Quality Control Lab Technician for their Brevard, NC location. Candidates must be driven, hard-working, team oriented, have a strong desire to learn, and handle the busy environment of a quickly growing production facility.
Description:
• Daily sterile microbiological sampling and analysis
• Make chemical reagents and microbiological media
• Work dynamically with fellow employees
• Daily data logging
• Perform various quantitative QC tests
• Operation of an autoclave for sterilization
• Research and present outside information on brewing related processes
• Create functional spreadsheets and present information effectively
Requirements:
• A bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, or related field
• Experience working in a lab environment
• Ability to follow established SOPs
• Understanding of basic statistical analysis
• Ability to work weekends
• Be able to communicate effectively with manager and coworkers
• Operational knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel; Microsoft Access skills a plus
• Work safely and follow safety protocols
• Strong understanding of the brewing process through education or work experience
• Assist in maintaining a clean lab and professional work environment
• A love of nature, bikes, and/or anything outdoors is a big plus.
• And of course a true appreciation of quality beer.
This is a full time position. Compensation will be based on experience but will include medical, dental, 401k, profit sharing incentive, paid-time-off, an awesome REEB mountain bike after 2 years employment, and gym membership.
