    JOB SUMMARY

    The Filler Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the canning line and for assisting the Packaging Team in efforts towards daily goals. The role requires technical abilities of operating and maintaining machinery and a strong work ethic to lead by example.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    • Safely and efficiently operate both canning lines
    • Ensure canning equipment and hardware are in functioning order- perform maintenance and properly report and document issues as needed
    • Lead and keep canning team motivated and working efficiently
    • Check carbonation of beer and adjust if necessary
    • Ensure beer quality is up to standard before canning (in conjunction with brewers and the QC department)
    • Inspect can seams with micrometer and specialized software. Calibrate seamer as necessary
    • Inspect quality of packaged product and assure it is fit for distribution
    • Fill out packaging sheets and assure correct inventory counts for canning runs
    • CIP canning line, CIP brite tanks
    • Use of software like KEG ID, OB etc. to track kegs, scheduling, inventory, etc.
    • Work with packaging manager to maintain stock of packaging supplies
    • Seeks ways to improve the canning process and minimize losses
    • Keep packaging area clean and organized
    • Operation of keg washer equipment in case this position needs to be covered
    • Effectively communicating with different departments (Brewing, Logistics, Kegging, Lab, Cellar, Warehouse, HR, etc.) to achieve company production goals
    • Maintaining a safe, clean, orderly and sanitary environment in all packaging-related areas (brite tanks, trench drains, canning lines, hose lines, pumps, kegs, conveyors, floor, etc.)
    • Identify additional requirements for equipment, labor, etc and bring these requirements to the Dir. of Brewing Ops
    • Understand operations of all packaging equipment including both canning fillers, X-Ray, comac keg filler, tank cleaning procedures, CIP procedures, seamer calibration, carbonation, etc.
    • Promote workplace safety and actively participate in safety committee meetings
    • Ensure packaging employees are using proper PPE and safety practices
    • Other tasks may be assigned as required

    REQUIREMENTS
    • Experience working in brewery or production environment preferred
    • Experience with CIP processes
    • Management/ leadership experience preferred
    • Mechanical aptitude, strong math and problem solving skills
    • Excellent communication skills-verbal and non-verbal
    • Strong ability to observe and focus
    • Desire to constantly improve systems in place
