Under direction of the Director of Operations, the Production Technician is trained on, and responsible for all aspects of the production cycle. Daily duties could include tasks in Pre-Production, Start Team or Harvest Team. It is the responsibility of the Production Technician to follow all established SOPs and propagate yeast according to the production schedule.
Essential Functions & Duties
Utilizes autoclave to ensure required materials and equipment are sterilized and ready to use when needed.
Responsible for transportation of materials between the production and cold storage rooms.
Assembles and fills vessels in accordance with SOPs.
Samples, tests gravity and pitches yeast into vessels.
Participates in daily cleaning routine of production work space.
Performs steam sanitization of process piping (SIP).
Utilizes lab centrifuge in order to obtain accurate cell counts.
Calibrates and ensures accuracy of Clean Room equipment including scale and PH probe.
Operates the Harvest Sealer to remove propagation portion of vessel in addition to creating QC packs for testing.
Responsible for proper labeling and storage or finished harvested yeast.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
1+ year of applicable experience. Clean room experience a plus.
Knowledge of aseptic technique a plus.
Ability to read and follow SOPs required.
Physical Demands
Medium work: Employee may, or may not, have a workstation or office. Time spent conducting sedentary work is less than 25%. Requires walking, standing and/or driving for more than 75% of the workday. Lifting 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Work environment is wet/humid and position may encounter hot/cold conditions.
