    The Packaging Specialist is responsible for operating our canning and bottling lines and ultimately, every aspect involved in the packaging process. Additionally, they will assist in cellar tasks and cleaning duties and will report to the Head Brewer.



    Responsibilities
    - Responsible for every aspect of operating and maintaining our four head Wild Goose canning line
    - Responsible for every aspect of operating and maintaining our label applicator
    -Supervise staff in all activities in accordance with operational policies and procedures, including safe operation of all packaging equipment, pumps, tanks, and forklifts.
    -Enforce proper equipment use and maintenance
    -Enforce proper PPE use, and safe handling and storage of chemicals
    -Assist with orientation, training, and skills development of team members consistent with established operational and safety procedures.
    -Review employment applications and conducts interviews for Packaging Tech candidates when needed
    -Develop and update packaging SOPs as needed
    -Ensure packaging teams maintain a clean and safe workspace
    - Checking CO2 levels with appropriate instrumentation on forced carbonated beers prior to packaging
    - Checking DO levels with appropriate instrumentation while in the brite tank and in the can
    - Monitoring quality control to ensure that the beer being packaged is as absolutely perfect as it can possibly be
    - Inventory management on all items relevant to packaging, including cans, lids, bottles, labels, pak techs, kegs, etc.,
    - Monitoring quality control on finished labeled and waxed bottles
    - Cleaning and maintaining the canning line and packaging work area
    - Clean and properly store kegs
    - Clean and sanitize keg cleaning lines prior to and post kegging
    - Properly mark/identify filled kegs with appropriate collars
    - Operate a forklift to transport pallets
    - Maintain an orderly and safe work environment within department as well as entire facility
    - Participate in regular departmental meetings to review issues and propose solutions
    - Follow strict SOP’s to clean the brite tanks/fermenters post packaging
    - Be a team player with ability to interact with all levels within the organization
    - Safely handle cleaning chemicals, and using the prescribed amount for each task
    - Preparation of an endless array of ingredients bound for beer




    DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
    - Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application
    - Able to pass a post-offer, pre-employment background check
    - Require 1 year previous brewery experience in a packaging role
    - Extreme passion for craft beer and the desire to learn
    - Prefer Previous Forklift experience
    - Strong work ethic and self-starting attitude
    - Good interpersonal skills and team spirit
    - The desire to work in a fast-paced, growing company
    - Genuine enthusiasm for craft beer
    - Willingness to regularly work during evenings and weekends




    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
    - Able to stand for prolonged periods of time
    - Able to stoop, crawl, twist, turn, lift, kneel, climb ladders and stairs
    - Able to manipulate valves and clamps
    - Able to regularly lift/carry 44 pound boxes
    - Able to regularly lift/carry 55 pound bags above waist level
    - Able to periodically lift/move 165 pounds
    - Able to work in a factory/production environment which may be loud, slick, humid, and hot
    - Able to work in indoor and outdoor environment with moderate noise, sometimes slippery floors
    - Able to comply with safe chemical handling procedures, including personal protection equipment such as gloves and goggles
