    Instruction & Classroom Support Technician 3-Production Floor Technician in the Craft Brewing and Distilling Department.

    $3,701.00 - $4,188.00 Monthly, Full Time, Benefits

    What You'll Do
    Coordinate and manage activities, equipment, materials, and employees associated with the Craft Brewing and Distilling production floor:
    • Supervise student and staff work in the facility and on the production floor.
    • Responsible for storage, inventory, and safe handling of chemicals on the production floor.
      • Determines required supplies and quantities and initiates reorders within budget.
      • Trains students and faculty on equipment including yeast culturing, beverage production and packaging, and support equipment including air compressor, malt handling system, CO2 recovery, and two glycol systems. Critical to this training is safe handling of hazardous conditions including compressed gases, acids, bases, and steam.
    • Maintain equipment, materials, and product inventory for Craft Brewing and Distilling and related enterprises.
      • Run routine diagnostics on equipment and prepare environmental samples for lab analysis.
      • Update and track production activities including entering batch reports on paper and approved software.
    • Prepare, break down, and clean up following activities in the facility. This includes cleaning and proper storage of equipment, disposal of waste, and preparation of equipment for the next scheduled activity.
    • Determines the amounts of materials, supplies, and equipment required for courses to ensure the program can deliver planned content.
    • Assist faculty and staff with enterprise related operations including and not limited to, production, cellaring, distillation, conditioning, and packaging of commercial products.
    • Provide support in managing the program’s yeast program and package quality SOPs.
    • Determines the amounts of materials, supplies, and equipment required for enterprise services.
    • Leads workshop groups or instructional workshops.
    • Assists with tracking inventory of finished goods produced and used in training in compliance with applicable state/federal laws, rules, and guidelines.
    • Facilitate student access to the production floor outside of class time to manage their projects.
    • Support faculty and staff with sample intake, analysis, and quality data collection of industry and student samples.
    • Solves problems using resources, knowledge, and research to help advance the Craft Brewing and Distilling Program.
    • Assist in the development of safe operating procedures (SOPs); bring safety concerns to faculty and staff.
    • Collaborates with faculty, staff, and students to design new SOPs, conduct courses, and develop new instructional materials and activities.
    • Remains abreast of new and emerging trends and technologies for incorporation into Craft Brewing and Distilling operations.
    • Represent the college’s instructional program and enterprise services at community and industry events.
    • Demonstrate multicultural competence (including an awareness and understanding of historically disadvantaged populations) and create an educational and work environment that affirms a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
    • Support the college’s mission by creating a work environment of mutual respect and fairness, while encouraging creative and critical thinking.
    • Contribute to the appreciation of diversity and foster a climate of multicultural understanding.

    Reporting and budget:
    • Monitors course support budget and course fees to ensure instructional expenses remain in budget.
    • Assists in maintaining detailed reporting of batches on paper and approved software.
    • Prepares requests for fee increase when needed to ensure fees cover course requirements.
    • Consults with faculty to determine course budget and required materials.


    Qualifications You Possess
    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Commitment to working in an environment that values a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological, and ethnic backgrounds.
    • Three years of craft beverage industry experience, production or packaging preferred, or an equivalent combination of training and/or formal education.
    • Knowledge of applicable food and beverage manufacturing safety procedures and chemical hygiene plans.
    • Bachelor’s degree in any field of study.
    • Strong organizational skills, ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks, maintain office confidentiality and accommodate numerous interruptions.
    • Position requires high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
    • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with others and function as a team member.
    • Demonstrated experience or participation with persons from diverse backgrounds such as sexual orientation, racial, ethnic, religious, linguistic, gender, age, socio-economic, physical and learning abilities, and a commitment to an inclusive and equitable working/learning environment.
    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Strong familiarity with the craft beverage industry and how it has adjusted in the last three years.
    • Collaborative -- The ability to work in culturally diverse groups toward a common goal by involving, including and valuing others.
    • Experience in an academic/teaching environment where learners are training on manufacturing or laboratory equipment.
    • Ability to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations, solving problems and making decisions.
    • Critical Thinking -- The ability to use inductive and deductive reasoning to understand diverse perspectives.
    • Self-Awareness and Commitment to growth – The ability to engage in self-reflection, lifelong learning and growth.
