Fat Bottom Brewing is looking for a Packaging Line Operator / Supervisor. A Packaging Line Operator is responsible for the operation and maintenance of all packaging equipment including, but not limited to; Comac 8-1 Rotary Canning Line, Markem Imaje Ink Jet Date Coder, Pressure Sensitive Labeler, x-ray level detector, PakTech applicator, various conveyors, ancillary pumps and compressors. This position works closely with the Head Brewer to schedule packaging runs in an efficient manner and ensure product meets all company standards for fill volume, dissolved oxygen levels and seam specifications, while minimizing product and packaging-goods loss. In addition to running and maintaining the line, this position is responsible for maintaining safety and efficiency standards.

Essential Job Duties:
- Packaging of beers into cans, bottles, or kegs while following all standard operating procedures
- Manage packaging-goods inventory including: cans, ends, bottles, crowns, cardboard, labels and consumable gases
- Fully set up and tear down all canning equipment in shared spaces in a timely manner
- Pre and post canning CIP
- Perform and delegate all daily packaging-related tasks with a propensity for efficiency and time management
- Perform QA checks during packaging runs to ensure product integrity
- Palletizing, and moving finished product according to predetermined allocations
- Ability to troubleshoot packaging equipment and communicate issues to management
- Keeping production areas clean and organized at all times
- Train new packaging employees proper machine operation and safety procedures.
- Communicating with management and other packaging team members on the status of packaging
- Other brewery-related tasks that may require assistance
- Any other duties delegated to by a supervisor/manager
Required Qualifications:
- Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application
- Able to pass a post-offer, pre-employment background check
- Strong mechanical aptitude including knowledge of pneumatics, VFDs, basic electrical, and ability to troubleshoot efficiently
- Ability to read and interpret manufacturers’ operation and service manuals, and communicate clearly using appropriate nomenclature with technicians as needed
- Ability to follow directions and work independently in a manner that will ensure the employee’s and teams’ safety.
- Understanding of cleaning and sanitation requirements in the food and beverage industry, especially as pertaining to beer
- Able to comply with safe chemical handling procedure, including personal protective equipment such as gloves, goggles and ear protection
- Organized and accurate record keeping
- Able to regularly twist, turn, kneel, climb, stoop, bend, crawl, lift and carry supplies and equipment weighing up to 55 pounds using appropriate techniques and tools
- Able to move 165-pounds, using appropriate techniques and tools
- Ability to work in a non-temperature-controlled environment, handling of hazardous materials, and exposure to complex machinery
- Ability to work in confined spaces and refrigerated, damp and wet environments.
- Ability to work on a ladder periodically
- Ability to proficiently operate a forklift strongly preferred
- OT may be required, including occasional weekend work
- Able to work in a factory/production environment that may be loud, slick, humid, cold, and hot
- Able to work in indoor and outdoor environments with moderate noise, crowded spaces, and occasionally slippery floors
