    Position Summary
    Primary function of this position is to conduct operations in the Production Fermentation area for industrial fermenters. Core competence in all equipment and infrastructure throughout the process is required, as is basic troubleshooting and strong mechanical aptitude. Interfaces with processing supervisors and operators, maintenance workers and general service operators, Fermentation Lab Technicians, and QC Technicians to obtain samples, explain needed maintenance or request supplies.

    Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
    • Prepare, batch, sterilize, monitor and sanitize production Fermenters. This includes media preparation, probe calibration, pH adjustment, batch sterilization/autoclaving, inoculum preparation, down-stream processing, etc.
    • Monitor Fermentations using process automation, aseptic sampling, and benchtop measurements.
    • Safely work in manufacturing areas, following forklift, confined space, work-from-height, chemical handling, and LOTO safety procedures without deviation.
    • Ability to handle basic repairs, PM’s, and simple troubleshooting as necessary.
    • Assist with efforts in other departments when needed.
    • Maintain clean and organized 5S work areas.
    • Maintain thorough documentation.
    • Work well as a team with fermentation and lab personnel.
    • Shift work will be required.

    Qualifications
    • Ability to juggle multiple tasks and prioritize workload.
    • Ability to work well as part of a team.
    • Ambition to master and improve fermentation department.
    • Responsible, organized and good work ethic
    Education and/or Experience: Bachelor of Science preferred, but not essential. Industrial experience preferred.

    Computer Skills: Microsoft office tools such as including Excel, Word, and Outlook.

    Physical Demands: Employee must lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
