Packaging Operator

EBBS Brewing Co. is looking for a Packaging Operator to add to our production team. EBBS is a Williamsburg Brooklyn-based brewery with a production facility in Flushing Queens. The Queens production facility has a 20Bbl brewhouse with on-site canning and keg filling capabilities. Having launched in 2020, EBBS is one of the fastest growing breweries in NYC with our local presence growing and distribution expanding into additional states. As part of this growth, we are looking for an experienced, skilled and driven Packaging Operator to join our team.
Position:
A Packaging Operator must have at least one year’s experience packaging beer or similar carbonated beverages, ideally canning. We operate a Wild Goose can filler with de-palletizer, date-coding and Paktech application equipment, experience with all is ideal but not required. A Packaging Operator will be the held responsible for proper operation and maintenance of canning and kegging equipment as well as adherence to packaging schedule. An understanding of QA/QC measures involved in packaging and shelf life is a must. Both canning and kegging operation will be required, time management and teamwork are skills held in high regard.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
- Cleaning and maintenance responsibilities includes, but not limited to:
- CIP/SIP for packaging equipment and pathways
- Maintain clean keg inventory according to planned packaging
- Keep a clean working environment, including packaging and quality testing equipment
- Help ensure mechanical elements of packaging are operating properly and efficiently
- Accurate and consistent record keeping includes, but not limited to:
- Carbonation and dissolved oxygen records before and throughout packaging
- Accurate packaging quantities across all pack types
- Material use records through packaging processes
- Operate and maintain Wild Goose 4-head filler canning line to include:
- A de-palletizer
- Seamer
- Ink jet coder
- Labeler
- PakTech applicator
- Work with the Head Brewer to ensure that the product meets quality standards before and during canning
- Integrate with Warehouse Manager/truck driver to ensure that packaged product is efficiently taken from the brewery to cold storage at our off-site warehouse
- Evaluation, calibration and maintenance of analysis equipment
- Mechanical repair capabilities and general understanding of processes and maintenance
- High School diploma or GED equivalency
- Experience packaging in a production environment required
- Experience operating a canning line in a production environment preferred
- Ability to operate a forklift
- Able to read/comprehend written and oral instructions in English
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to multitask
- Ability to accurately and consistently record data both in physical records and on computers/tablets
- Ability to work and communicate effectively within a small team on the floor
- Ability to work and communicate effectively with management and superiors
- Ability to maintain professionalism and represent the company both inside and outside of the brewery
- Passion and strong personal knowledge of the industry and market
Physical Demands:
- Ability to regularly lift, push, or pull up to 150 pounds
- Possess the manual dexterity sufficient to operate a wide variety of small hand tools
- While performing the duties the employee is:
- Required to stand, crouch, lift and climb ladders
- Constantly wear appropriate PPE for a given task
