Responsibilities:
SweetWater Brewing Company has an immediate opening for a Packaging Department Manager. This will be a rotating first shift (8am-4pm) and second shift (4pm-12am) position and will require occasional overtime and weekend work.
This position will oversee shift to shift operation of all production lines and report to the Director of Operations. This person will be responsible for scheduling all packaging operations, managing machine operators, maximizing equipment reliability, and implementing packaging line upgrades or additions.
Responsibilities include:
Mandatory qualifications:
High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Engineering degree preferred.
Minimum requirement of 1 year experience supervising/leading people and processes in a manufacturing environment or 3 years of experience working in a team-based manufacturing environment.
Ability to lead others in a respectful manner that motivates the Team to strive for success.
Fork lift certification.
Capable of lifting and carrying 75 lbs.
Candidates must demonstrate a strong engineering aptitude, self-management, good organizational skills, problem solving, root cause analysis, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic.
Intermediate computer skills and excellent verbal communication will be required.
Prefer experience in the food/beverage industry.

Responsibilities include:
- Promote safe working conditions: enforcement of PPE requirements, regular safety meetings/training to engage the packaging team in maintaining safe work practices
- Ensuring quality product and sanitary working environments
- Visual inspections and quality assurance checks of packaged goods
- Interfacing with laboratory personnel to develop ongoing quality control and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) improvements
- Periodic training of operators to reinforce quality control and GMP guidelines
- Managing labor to maximize employee utilization and shift productivity
- Develop production schedules, with a focus on efficiency and limiting waste/loss
- Communicating with the cellar team to guarantee beer availability, and the warehouse team to ensure suitable inventory levels of materials and finished goods
- Work closely with the maintenance department to schedule preventative maintenance, support large maintenance projects, and maintain suitable spare parts inventories to maximize equipment up time
- Tracking production line performance, Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s), and completing shift paperwork
- Maintaining routine cleaning and maintenance schedules
- Developing and executing improvement initiatives in all critical success areas.
- Coaching and training fellow operators in all aspects of line operation
- Operating, maintaining, troubleshooting and cleaning equipment on the can and keg lines
- Continuously maintaining a clean and orderly work environment
- Working with others in a team based environment
- Being a role model to all team members
