Position Summary
Creative & technically competent packaging technologist who provides Technical support and leadership for new product / package development, package change, efficiency & process improvements, technical compliance (packaging) and cost savings.
Role & Responsibilities
Generate innovative and unique solutions to meet market needs; submit idea disclosures. Work is expected to result in the development of new or refined packages, products, processes or equipment Generate and manage packaging related documentation, including specifications, test plans and reports, and other NPD documents. Provide technical leadership to team across range of packaging formats and technologies – specifically relating to premium products / beverages. Work cooperatively with various departments, and suppliers, leading teams as assigned, to ensure an improved, practical, and consistent approach to packaging. Develop & maintain NPD process for packaging Develop & maintain specifications, artwork, test methods – no spec = no product

Knowledge and Experience
3-5 years FMCG experience, ideally in beverages (soft drinks or alcohol) Flexible – looking to work in a less structured, less ‘corporate’, fast moving, dynamic and rapidly growing business. Open to both domestic and overseas travel. Experienced in pack development, pack testing, specifications management, cost savings and process optimization. Excellent communication skills and able to work with minimum supervision. Able to set up and develop structures for management of new pack developments, specification systems, test procedures, print and artwork standards. Degree level qualification in Packaging Engineering or comparable engineering / science discipline. Methodical, with high level of technical competence Self-motivated, able to make quick, calculated decisions, follow through with responsibilities and be accountable for results Advanced competency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint.
