    The Role:

    Westward Whiskey is looking for an outstanding individual to join our team in the role of barrel house assistant and production staff. This individual will work directly with the Head Blender & Barrel House Manager, while ultimately reporting to the Director of Operations. The ideal candidate is passionate about single malt whiskey and has critical thinking skills, attention to detail and a drive to learn that will allow them to shine in this role.


    Key Responsibilities:
    • Assisting in barrel house operations - cask management, organizing whiskey samples, blending whiskey, moving and repairing barrels
    • Forklift and power jack operations, including safely loading/unloading trucks
    • Assisting in Single Barrel program management, inventory and supply ordering
    • Distilling operations - whiskey wash production, pot distillation, proficient data entry and logging capabilities - as barrel responsibilities allow/dictate

    Qualifications:
    • Forklift certification and experience preferred but not required
    • Strong organizational & tracking skills
    • Previous beverage production experience required
    • Able to move & reposition materials weighing up to 50 lbs
    • Capable of working in a warehouse environment with limited climate control
    • Conformance to attendance, time keeping, drug and alcohol, and additional handbook policies
    • High school diploma or GED and 21+ due to insurance requirements
    • Eligible for work in the U.S.
    • Position requires work at both the distillery (Portland) and barrel house (Clackamas) so reliable transportation is a must

    • Position is full-time and non-exempt
    • Relocation assistance is not currently offered.
