POSITION SUMMARY: The Packaging Manager is responsible for the daily operation of the packaging lines. They ensure the product quality and efficiency, while driving continuous improvement. The Packaging Manager provide direction and leadership to the Packaging Technicians assigned to their line. This job requires a mechanical aptitude and solid problem solving skills. ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Responsible for the daily operation of the packaging lines – either bottling, canning, or kegging including changeovers for different sizes and formats.
- Cleaning equipment and perform in accordance with SOPs and specifications.
- Work closely with the Head Brewer and manage production schedules and staffing schedules to ensure the brewery meets all orders, releases and tasting room demands.
- Train, mentor, and manage a knowledgeable packaging technicians assigned to the line.
- Ensure equipment and facilities are in condition to produce quality beer on schedule.
- Develop and ensure adherence to SOPs that focus on beer quality and safety.
- Complete basic preventative maintenance (e.g., lubrication, observation, etc.)
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Previous food and beverage packaging experience
- Experience with a CIMEC Filler, Wild Goose Canning Line, Quadrel, Rinser, Nitrogen Doser preferred
- 2+ years experience in a supervisory role.
- BA/BS or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated mechanical skills with the equipment found in a production brewery.
- Demonstrated problem solving and organizational skills
- A passion for craft beer and the ability to embrace River Horse’s core values.
- Candidate should be able to lift at least 30lbs. from ground level and should also be able to move 165lbs of kegged beer from one location to another. Candidate should be physically capable of standing for long periods of time
