Packaging Technician
What This Entails:
Dogfish Head Craft Brewery is seeking a safety oriented, mechanically inclined Off-Centered Packaging Technician to join our wonderful Packaging Team. Under general supervision of our Packaging Manager and Supervisor, you will keep the good stuff flowing into bottles and kegs, through the efficient coordination of equipment, materials, and beer. You’ll be running our packaging line equipment and soon to be can line as well as drive a forklift and stack, prepare and coordinate the delivery of our yummy finished beer to the warehouse. The lucky guy or gal who fills this role will write and perform preventive maintenance procedures on packaging equipment as well as perform maintenance task instructions, troubleshooting and repairs to our manufacturing equipment. You’ll need to be willing and able to suggest updates to department SOPs as well as equipment or process modifications to help increase machine efficiency and reduce downtime and changeover time. You will also perform cleaning and sanitation efforts to ensure the packaging line is always ready for action.
What You Need to Land This Gig:
The qualified candidate will have a minimum high school diploma or the equivalent. A minimum of two years of experience in a production environment is required. Forklift certification is a big plus but the ability to become Dogfish Head forklift certified is required. To be considered you’ll need to understand how to use both hand and power tools, machine tools and measuring instruments as they’ll be key to your position. This packaging tech will be proficient in performing root cause analysis and problem solving activity when necessary. Basic computing skills will make life easier for sure. The ideal candidates will be passionate about quality, safety and efficiency, and be someone that their team can depend on. Last but certainly not least, a passion for craft beer, Dogfish, and off-centeredness is essential. You must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and maneuver kegs and pallets throughout the course of the entire shift. Must be able to twist/turn, reach over shoulders and stand/walk on a continual basis.
This is a rotating shift gig, so the ability to work nights is an absolute must. Most shifts will happen Monday through Friday but some overtime and weekend work may be required. You’ve got to be able and willing to work all shifts (including overnight) if it comes down to it – no exceptions!
