Ballad Brewing is a 20BBL brewhouse located in Danville, VA. We opened our doors in June of 2017 and are gearing up for distribution. We are currently searching for a Brewery Production Assistant. The position will report to our Brewery Operations Manager/Head Brewer. The Brewery Production Assistant will begin with a focus primarily on cleaning, sanitation, quality control, and safety. This is an entry level position. The candidate has the opportunity to progress into greater responsibilities in the brewhouse including brewing, filtering, and bottling as knowledge and training progress. The ideal candidate will bring a great work ethic and willingness to learn from an experienced brewer. Specifically, the Brewery Production Assistant will be responsible for assisting the Brewing Operations Manager/Head Brewer with tasks as needed; including, but not limited to, the following:
- Cleaning kegs.
- Filling kegs.
- Cleaning brewhouse tanks and equipment.
- Cleaning the brewhouse area including floors.
- Assist with receiving incoming shipments and daily record keeping.
- Assist with packaging.
- Operate company trucks and forklifts.
- Assist with preventative maintenance and mechanical repairs.
- Prepare outgoing orders and shipments.
- Maintain a clean and organized warehouse.
- Stack pallets, cases, and kegs.
- Conduct brewery tours when necessary.
- Any additional tasks as necessary.
Qualifications: Minimum age 21 years of age. Brewery operations experience is a plus, however, all candidates will be considered if they possess relevant, transferable skills and a basic understanding of the brewing process. Ability to repeatedly lift 55 lbs and move 160 lbs kegs. Ability to be on your feet for 8 hours at a time and able to climb ladders. Must have a fundamental knowledge of plumbing and machinery mechanics.
Will consider both part and full-time applicants. Shifts will vary and may occasionally include weekends, evenings, or holidays. Base wage is dependent on qualifications. This position has potential for advancement to Assistant Brewer, Cellarman/Cellarwoman, or Packaging Lead as the business grows.
