  • Stone Brewing CA - Quality Assurance Analyst

    Stone Brewing is looking for a Quality Assurance Analyst to join the team!

    Must be flexible to work weekends and/or any shift in a 24 hour period.

    The Quality Assurance Analyst will carry out and facilitate the QA analytical support of brewing and packaging processes.

    Responsibilities:

    -Perform standardized analytical testing on in process and finished beer, which includes but is not limited to the following: IBU’s, Color, pH, Gravity, Carbon dioxide, Dissolved oxygen, seam analysis, Turbidity, Forced Fermentation, ABV
    -Effectively run and modify methods on the Gas Chromatograph and HPLC for VDK and other analytes
    -Monitor packaged beer quality in bottles, cans, and kegs – including packaging material quality
    -Organize and track analytical data
    -Track and monitor experimental and pilot brews as they move through production
    -Work with QA and Brewery personnel to determine root cause and possible solutions for analytical issues
    -Validate new analytical testing equipment and prepares for use in QA and the Brewery
    -Assist in ordering chemicals, equipment, and supplies from lab vendors and tracking lab supply inventory
    -Assist in the training of Brewery personnel on analytical equipment
    -Prepare stock solutions
    -Assist in the maintenance of laboratory equipment and in maintaining a professional and clean lab/tasting area
    -Complete and maintain laboratory data
    -Make stock solutions and media plates
    -Prepare Taste Panels as required
    -Assist with Brewery issues, including, but not limited to: Yeast culturing, small batch brewing, cask production, and production brewing
    -Assist in special project work
    -Cross train to cover microbiological methods and yeast propagation procedures
    -Maintain safety within the brewery and lab at all times
    -Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice

    Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemistry, BioChemistry, or related field. Brewing education preferred. At least 4 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of experience and education. Experience with GMP and HACCP a plus. Brewery or food/beverage manufacturing experience a plus. Must have experience showing an understanding of the theory behind how the equipment and tests work/measure analytes. Must have experience analyzing and formulating data/test results and presenting results to all levels. Must have experience using strong presentation and reporting skills. Must have experience using different testing methods and developing those methods.
