    The ideal candidate for this position will have an aptitude for calm problem solving under pressure, have strong mechanical inclination and be adept at leading a team. We are a mission driven kombucha brewery located just outside of Asheville, NC and are scaling rapidly to meet sales demand. We are looking for self motivated long term team members that are hard working, team oriented, problem solvers that have a passion for making a difference in the world.

    Position Description:

    The Brewery Supervisor for our 2nd shift and will ensure all equipment and people are functioning at optimal capacity through a strong attention to operational detail during the production process. You will work with the 1st shift Packaging Manager, Head Brewer and Operations Manager to ensure production quota are met on time while meeting all safety and quality standards. Additionally, you will work with the Maintenance Tech to ensure all bottling equipment is serviced and maintained as needed. This is a permanent full-time position. You will report to the Brewery Operations Manager.

    Position Responsibilities:
    • Act as Person In Charge on production floor
    • Ensure team follows Standard Operating Procedures and safety regulations
    • Troubleshoot any problems from production staff
    • Oversee the set up, breakdown and cleaning of the bottling lines
    • Ensure that product being produced meets standards of quality (caps fastened appropriately, liquid level appropriate, labels level, boxes secure)
    • Guide Lead Packaging Techs in respect to relevant packaging tasks and problem solving
    • Ensure 2nd shift team is completing and filling out appropriate checklists
    • Ensure GMP standards are followed and brewery is clean and tidy at the end of the shift.
    • Fill in for other co-workers as needed.
    • Develop a positive and collaborative working environment.



    Food Safety and Quality responsibilities:
    • Follow cGMP policy when going into production
    • Understand basics of Pest Control and inform Quality Control when there is a sighting.
    • Is aware of food defense / visitor policy and will assist with making sure all visitors are accompanied by an employee at all times.
    • Has a thorough understanding of Allergen Management policy and follows appropriate procedures.
    • Ensures all cleaning and sanitation policies and procedures are followed per SQF.
    • Handles all raw materials per SQF policy and procedures.
    • Is aware of Management's Commitment to SQF and will work towards Food Safety and Quality and helps company meet this commitment.
    • If there is a problem that involves food quality and safety, the CAPA log is filled out, the situation is investigated, and resolved with the goal of continual improvement of food quality and safety.
    • Is aware of Crisis Management policy and will follow appropriate procedures.
    • Is aware of Recall Policy and will ensure all procedures are followed.
    • Is aware of the Contract Service Providers Policy and ensures anyone hiring a external party to do work within the 242 Derringer Drive premises or shopping out any of Buchi’s internal processes involved in beverage production must follow this policy.

    Job Requirements:
    • Strong analytical and critical thinking
    • Mechanical and technical experience required
    • Ability to analyze problems, identify solutions and implement procedures for solutions
    • Able to provide general leadership to the 2nd shift team across all brewery departments.
    • Comfortable providing training and constructive feedback as needed
    • Focused and calm under pressure
    • Possesses excellent communication skills, positive attitude, and enjoys working in a team environment
    • 3 year experience in manufacturing or brewery
    • 2 years team leadership experience
    • Attention to detail with high standard of cleanliness
    • Heightened awareness of safety precautions and hazards for self and others
    • Able to follow all SQF policies and procedures
    • Basic computer competencies and spreadsheet skills.
    • Able to regularly lift, push, or pull 65+ lbs as needed
    • Ability to stand for long periods of time and perform repetitive tasks when needed
    • Proficiency with pallet jacks and fork lift


    Hours and Compensation:
    • This position is Full-Time Hourly Non-Exempt
    • Overtime may be required during peak season
    • 2nd shift Monday through Friday
    • Compensation TBD based on experience
    • Eligible for Health Insurance Coverage after 90 days, company pays 70% individual premium
    • Eligible for Vision & Dental Coverage after 90 days
    • 5 days PTO per year to start
