Position Summary:

21st Amendment Brewery located in San Leandro, California is now accepting applications for a Chef position for our Tap Room Food Truck. Our existing Tap Room and beer garden with seating for 300 has been operating since 2015. In 2018 we added our own outdoor kitchen food truck to serve a classic pub menu similar to the menu at our San Francisco restaurant location. This key team member will execute and innovate on an existing menu inspired by the beer around us as well as be responsible for all culinary functions for the San Leandro location. Job duties include food purchasing, preparation and maintenance of quality standards, sanitation and cleanliness, training of employees in methods of cooking, preparation, plate presentation, portion, cost control, sanitation and cleanliness. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Execute existing menus and design new menu ideas that support the company’s food promise
  • Recruit, onboard and manage all kitchen staff to support a healthy and vibrant team culture
  • Effectively estimate and plan for food and labor requirements and costs to support appropriate levels while being fiscally responsible
  • Proactively comply with sanitation regulations and safety standards
  • Maintain proper food holding and refrigeration temperature control points
  • Implement systems to ensure standards are met for quality of raw or cooked food products
  • Equipment procurement, maintenance and repairs to support ongoing excellence and capacity
  • Must be able to drive Food Truck off-site weekly for health department required maintenance
  • Occasional shopping and off-site errands
  • Address challenges and complaints from guests to effectively facilitate positive outcomes and long-term relationships
  • Work with the HR department to maintain time and payroll records and staff support
  • Maintain an enthusiastic, positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
  • A college degree in Culinary or other related field or 3 years of experience working as a chef is preferred
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience or knowledge in varied kitchen positions including food preparation, line cook, fry cook, and expediter
  • Demonstrated passion for craft beer and food
  • Able to communicate effectively with managers and kitchen staff, brewery employees, guests and vendors
  • Able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds
  • Computer knowledge and the ability to quickly learn other technical systems
  • Flexible work hours that may require long hours and weekend work
