    Job Title: Taproom Shift Lead

    FLSA Status: Non Exempt

    Reports To: Taproom Manager

    Pay Range: $20.50 - $23.00/hr

    Get to know this role:

    As a key part of our business, our tap room often provides craft beer enthusiasts the first experience of our brewery and beers. And to ensure this first customer experience is a positive one, we are dedicated to providing the best possible service and hospitality to ensure our guests are made to feel welcome in a fun and relaxing environment.

    The taproom shift lead functions as the manager on duty in the absence of the taproom manager. They are charged with ensuring that our high standards of overall guest experience are being met and that the team is functioning on the highest level of efficiency and effectiveness. While the shift lead is in charge they are responsible for handling all customer issues and must be comfortable handling conflict resolution. This position requires someone who understands how to coordinate and support their teammates to achieve optimal service workflow and to accomplish team directives.

    We need teammates who will go the extra mile in both ability and desire, who is more than just a front of house employee but a trusting team member that can contribute to our long term success. Someone who can provide input on customer experience improvements and workflow, whose flexibility mirrors the needs of the team, and who is a dynamic person that is interested in continually transforming our brewery to be the best it can be!

    As our Taproom Shift Lead, you will be responsible for:
    1. Ensure the team is working efficiently and effectively:
      1. Adjust staffing needs to align with volume fluctuations by approving break schedules and cutting excess staff when appropriate
      2. Redirect employees on individual tasks as dictated by taproom volume and project prioritization
      3. During down time, ensure daily and weekly side work is appropriately delegated
      4. Establish accountability through daily auditing of opening and closing checklists
      5. Train new employees with a consistent adherence to all training guidelines
    2. Function as a leader in customer service and experience:
      1. Maintain a high level of situational awareness and respond to needs in the moment
      2. Ensure adherence to health and safety guidelines, compliance rules & regulations
      3. Act as the primary resource for questions from staff and guests
      4. Ensure consistency of product and service to optimize the guest experience
      5. Identify areas for improvement to the guest experience service workflow, team engagement, and indoor and outdoor spaces
    3. Function as the manager on duty:
      1. Provide in-the moment feedback and corrections as necessary and communicate performance issues to the manager
      2. In conjunction with the taproom manager, provide a consistent strong leadership presence in the taproom
      3. Lead by example to promote positivity, flexibility and open-mindedness within the team
      4. Exemplify a willingness and ability to work during unscheduled shifts as needed
      5. Be able to deal with complaints and/or problematic situations and manage conflict

    Details about our ideal candidate:
    1. Skills and Knowledge:
      1. Minimum one year experience in a service industry position, leadership experience preferred
      2. Basic knowledge of and a passion for craft beer and the hospitality industry
      3. Strong verbal and written communication skills
      4. Basic math skills and ability to use a POS system (Toast)
    2. Personal Competencies:
      1. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
      2. Strong problem solving skills
      3. Communicate effectively with guests, leadership, and co-workers
      4. Ability to remain calm under pressure or when dealing with disgruntled guests
      5. Be a strong and trusting team player
    3. Supervision Skills:
      1. Can use independent action in setting objectives and deciding how to proceed with daily operations
      2. Uses self direction in discovering tasks and keeping the team busy through slow periods
    4. Hours, Travel, and Physical Requirements:
      1. Frequently lift up to 80 pounds
      2. Work in a standing position for long periods of time
      3. Must be able to request time off with a minimum of two weeks notice (barring extenuating circumstances)
      4. Full time availability with an emphasis on weekends and evenings
      5. Work weekends, evenings, and events
      6. Must be 21 years old
