    Mass. Bay Brewing Company (MBBC), parent company to Harpoon, UFO, Clown Shoes, Arctic Summer and City Roots, is seeking a part-time Beer Mate to join our Beer Hall team. This candidate must be a mature, team player who has genuine enthusiasm for hard work, the Harpoon Brewery, and craft beer. Personal integrity, people skills, and professionalism are a prerequisite. Dependability, enthusiasm, a cheerful and professional demeanor, a willingness to learn, a demonstrated interest in Harpoon, UFO, Clown Shoes, Arctic Summer and City Roots products is essential. A background in the retail or bar/restaurant industry is preferred. Must be 21 years or older.

    The Beer Mate team is the essential support staff for Beer Hall operations. The Beer Mate team is responsible for maintaining behind-the-scenes aspects of Beer Hall operations, as well as providing support to the front-of-house team when necessary. This job involves elements of bar backing, draft line management, general maintenance, and more. The ideal candidate is a hands-on learner who is capable of working quickly, efficiently, and safely.


    Front of house:
    • Bus glassware and pretzel baskets
    • Run pretzels and beer to customers when needed
    • Clean up broken glassware, spills, etc.
    • Re-stock bar (fruit, coasters, ice, etc.) throughout the day when necessary
    • Replace full trash bags behind the bar
    • Maintain draft lines and handles (see maintenance below)
    • Additional duties as directed by the Manager on Duty (MOD) or General Manager (GM)

    Back of house:
    • Quickly flip empty kegs
    • Cut fruit as needed and maintain par levels in cooler
    • Clean dishes in kitchen
    • Make lemonade
    • Clean and shut down kitchen at the end of the night
    • Additional duties as directed by the MOD or GM

    • Maintain keg inventory - nightly counts, receive and organize weekly orders, etc.
    • Replace leaky or damaged beer lines
    • Change broken faucets
    • Perform bi-weekly cleanings of taps and draft lines
    • Maintain cleaning supplies and chemicals
    • Maintain stock of growlers/coasters for Beer Hall
    • Additional duties as directed by the MOD or GM

    • Capable of standing on your feet for long periods of time
    • Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs.
    • Capable of following all safety procedures while working with and around potentially hazardous machinery, chemicals, etc.
