  • CLT auto shutoff control and valve

Hey, we're looking for something that will allow us to fill our Cold liquor tank and have it shutoff at a set point automatically (so we can fill it overnight and not worry about turning off the water manually). Anyone know where we can find equipment that does this?

Brewmation might be able to help you with this. We have a couple different ways to achieve what you're looking to do with our controls. The first would be to tie a flow meter and valve into a simple control panel, which would allow you to set the number of gallons you want to add to your CLT, hit go, and walk away. Once the set number of gallons has been transferred, the controls would close the water valve. This would work if you know how many gallons you want to add.

The other option would be to add a float switch to your CLT. The tank would fill until the float is tripped and the controls would close the water valve. We have a few options for floats to accommodate different tank designs - horizontal if going through the sidewall of your CLT or vertical if going through the top. This is a good solution if you always want to fill to the same level.

In either case, we would also recommend incorporating a mechanical valve that would serve as a backup just in case you lose power or something fails. Last thing you want is to have electrical issues overnight and come into a flooded brewery.

Both would require controls to take in the signal (from the flow meter or float valve) and close the water valve, but nothing too complicated.

Let me know if you need any more info, happy to see what we can put together for you!

    Cheers,

There have several ways to realize it, it basically can be:
      1) Add a float ball valve, which is most economic type. Once the wate reached the level of ball valve. The port for fill cold water will be closed.
      2) Design a flow meter and pneumatic valve. So you can set needed volume and stop filling as your demands.
      3) Design a level sensor, so when the level arrived at the point, the pump will stop working automatically.
      4) Other sensors, of course, the cost will high further.

If you want to know more information, contact me and we can discuss further.

I'm doing that right now. Done it before and it works great. We use it to fill CLT and HLT. Never have another tank overflow. Switch it on and walk away. Easy to do with a little controls basics. It's a latching circuit that opens a valve (we use pneumatic angle seats). Use a three-position, center-return, lighted control switch with left side momentarily closing and right side momentarily open. Left starts the latch and opens the valve. Valve is closed when a conductive probe senses high level and opens the latch. Or when you turn switch right to open the latch. ROI on this is fast. And you'll sleep better.

Yes, we don't have to worry about that when sleeping. If the brewmasters expect higher automation, they can adopt the solution. We provide turnkey solution on brewery equipment, welcome to discuss.
