  • Five Star Acid #5 on tanks

Wondering if anyone uses Acid #5 on there kettle, brites, and/or fermentors and what SOP's you follow using this chemical. I've been using Birko products forever and not too familiar with Five Star chemicals. Just wondering if Acid #5 is a good product to use as an acid wash every x number of times on a vessel or if it's more for passivation.

    Thanks!

    Use it all the time...

We warm-ish water with PBW for about 30 minutes followed by #5 for 20 minutes and sanitize with chlorine dioxide for 10 minutes. Overkill, but it has never failed us.

Rinsing after your PBW cycle before Acid #5 I am assuming?

        Of course.

Rinse before using PBW and afterwards.
