  • Glycol Setup

Hi, we are in the final stage of setting up a 2.5BBL brewery in Australia. We have 5 Uni tanks and the glycol layout has been finalised. I asked for the piping to be mounted on the wall above the Uni tanks and the plumber is insisting that there is no need for the piping to go above the highest glycol port on the Uni tank.

At this location the Uni tanks will not be upgraded to a larger size so I’m guessing there’s no issue with having the piping at tank level, or is there?

Thank you in advance for any advice.

    Cheers

There is no need for the header to be above the highest jacket. But you do need to vent air from all the high points associated with those high point glycol return lines. IMO, it is usually better to have access to the piping components and vent at each high point than to install pipes high in the air just to avoid a few vents.
