When we had our bulk CO2 system installed in 2016, NuCO2 installed a heat exchanger (Vapor Man 125). We've been paying over $200 to rent it for many years. I finally asked the rep if its necessary, and he told me its technically not necessary with only one tank (we have a 750lb tank). But it would be necessary if we upgraded to a second bulk tank (which we are considering doing). I've never seen one of these heat exchangers at other small breweries and I would love to eliminate it if its not necessary. Does anyone out there understand the physics of these things well enough to give me some guidance? Anyone out there operating 2 bulk tanks WITHOUT one of these heat exchangers? We are a 2500 bbl/yr brewery using bulk CO2 for all the normal stuff (canning line, keg washer, purging tanks, carbing beer). Any input is appreciated. Cheers.
