  • Any dry hopping with whole leaf hops?

Hello, Is there anyone out there that can lend some insight on dry hopping with whole leaf hops in the FV? Do you bag them or leave them loose.
Do you add weight to the bags to make them sink? Any ideas or protocol would be appreciated. We use 30bbl FVs and dry hop pound per bbl. Jeff

I have bagged them put a sanitized piece of stainless and hung it from the spray ball. Make things a lot easier.

I bag the hops no matter what, just make sure you sanitize the bag. For weight I use glass beads, the ones you find in the floral area of most craft stores. They're cheap, easy to clean and santize, and very unlikely to give your beer any off flavors. I would suggest the clear ones just for cleanliness inspections.

we bag them, then rouse with co2. Depending on frequency of rousing, hops will drop on their own in anywhere from a few hours to a couple days.
