  • Bottle Cap (crown) crimp

    Hi guys,

We have an applied bottling single head filler that we've been using and abusing for a while now. Recently I bought a crimp gauge as it felt to me that the crowns weren't being crimped properly (sharp and somewhat flared outward). The crimp gauge confirmed my suspicions. I believe that I have tried the few options that exist for adjusting the crowner on this machine and I just can't get a crimp that goes through the gauge.

Anyone know of a manufacture of crown heads (that actually work) that I could retro onto this machine...mounted on a 10 or 12mm bolt, connected to hydraulics. I have the same issue with my Champagne (29mm) crown head as well...

As always, any of the infinite wisdom out there appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Jeff

    crowner

Jeff - shoot me an e-mail with a courier account number and I'll send you out a new crowning head - our current crowning heads seem to crown nicely

If I could chime in on the thread... I have some what the same problem. We have a crowner gauge that consists of 4 holes; 2 for standard and 2 for Euro. they both say Go/No Go respectively. Can you clarify this and do you have the same quality check tool?

        Thanks in advance

        John

Yes I have a Go No Go Tool with two holes:

          1) Go @ 28.82 mm
          2) No Go @ 28.58 mm

The way I understand this is that it should fit through the Go hole and should not fit through the NO Go Hole.

My problem is that I can't even get it to fit through the Go hole...

          Cheers,
          Jeff
