  • Rinse or sanitize or both before bottling?

    Hello everyone,

We are considering bottling some of our beers. We have a 3.5BBL brewhouse and 10bbl fermenters.
We want to naturally carbonate our beers. We pretty much have a good idea on how to get our beer in the bottles.
What we were wondering is what most of you guys are doing out there to prep the bottles. Do you rinse only with water, do you sanitize or do you do both? Would you also care to explain your process on how you do so.
Keep in mind as well that we do most of everything by hand.

    Thanks

    Julien

    sani rinse

We have a 4bbl system. A single head cbk filler. We rinse for 3 seconds with paa before placing on the machine.

What device do you guys use to rinse?

      Thank you in advance,

we rinse with one of these from morebeer along with the 12 pack racks

Cleans dozens of bottles quickly! Imagine a system that lets you sanitize bottles 12 at a time, temporarily store them while they drain upside down, and then flush them with inert gas prior to filling. Free shipping over $59.

it's hooked to a March pump that recirculates from a small resevoir

We got a 6 bottle rinser from cbk when we bought the machine. I use my march pump and pump sanitizer from our HLT. I make up 24 gallons at a time on bottling day. Covers sanitizing the machine before the run, all the bottles during the run and than again the machine at the end of the run.

            Labels

I assume the labels are on the bottles before you sanitize?

              Bottles

              Ok, before filling bottles we:

              1. Rinse using that rinse/Purge base mentioned above with sani for 30 sec to 1 min.

              2. We then purge with CO2 in the same base for 30 seconds

After the purge you are ready to bottle and cap. We also label right before rinsing
