  • Nitrogen for an in-line canner purge?

With the huge increase in package sales we've seen lately, our CO2 usage has gone through the roof. Most of the increase has been due to packaging--canning and bottling, but canning in particular.

We're wondering if we can get a nitrogen generator and use N2 to purge cans on our ABE Lincan 35. I realize that N2 is about the same density as air, so wondering if this would be a problem. Carbonation shouldn't be a concern, as our beer is pushed directly from the bright tanks with CO2 and the canner has no bowl.

    Whadda y'all think?
