You can find good information on the TTB's website: http://ttb.gov/beer/beer-permits.shtml
Another good resource is at www.legalbrewing.com. It helps with all the federal stuff, and lets you know what issues to look out for at the state.
The state application process is usually easier and quicker to get through than the federal one. California's ABC board is pretty easy to get information from. http://www.abc.ca.gov/ The bigger issues will crop up at the county and city levels with the local health, building, and zoning departments.
Good luck!

California Start-up Help
Brewers,
I am looking to start a brewery in the near future, (within 4 years) if all things go as planned and i'm curious to know if anyone can give me some insight into the licensing and legalities for a California Brewery. I have read about many of the licenses needed but hearing from a professional would be best, if possible.
I am looking to start a 7-10bbl brewery with a tap room and self distribute only kegs to start. No food will be sold on premise but apparel and growlers will be available.
If anyone could help steer me in the direction of a good contact in Southern California or just leave some input on the thread that would be great. Emails are always welcome. boardwalkbrewco@gmail.com
Thanks and Cheers!
