    how are people cleaning and sanitizing growlers when swapping them out for refills?

    this has always been a big headache in every brewery I have worked in.

    two very important things.

    your customers understand that they should be cleaning and rinsing these things before bringing them back for a re-fill.
    ... then we can just do a quick sanitize using a pump sprayer like you see on top of the bottle trees like this...

    or a sparger like more beers...

    Other than that, if they come back dirty, soak em in a deep sink with several others, rinse and repeat.

      None of the breweries around here clean or sanitize them. Customers must bring them in clean and ready to fill.

        We have a three-sink system for glass washing and the final sink is filled with Star San. We give the growlers a rinse with the Star San. This also cools them off so they foam less.
