  • Offsite storage for barrel aging. Legal?

Being a brewpub with very little space for barrel aging, I had the idea of renting an off site storage unit and filling it with barrels for producing sour beers. Beer would be transported to this location in kegs and aged for 1 year or so.

So in the interest of keeping our license, would this be a bad idea? Are there any laws stating that your beer must remain on premise until sold?

    State Allows?

Not sure if your state allows it, but in CA as long as you aren't doing any "brewing operations" then you don't even need an additional license to barrel age off site.

The TTB requires you extend your brewers bond- which is just insurance- to cover the secondary facility.
