  • Anton Paar DMA 35 vs Misco Palm Abbe

Does anyone have experience with these two devices? I am looking to speed up wort measurements during run off. Pros and cons of both units would be awesome. Thanks for the input.

No experience with the Misco Palm, but we use the Anton Paar every day on every tank and it's easy to use and gives consistent results.

With any gravity reading you have to first degas the sample, and that's where the biggest pain lies on fermenting/fermented beer.

In the lab we use a full blown Anton Paar alcolyzer and densitometer unit, but the brewhouse uses the DMA 35 and its quite reliable. As Scotts said though, if you're looking to get fermentation measurements then you'll need to degas, but if you're just grabbing run off measurements then you should be good to go. We did comparisons between the DMA and full alcolyzer/densitometer unit and it was quite accurate.
