  • Bittering Hops

    Some say bitter with high alpha, some say lower alpha, some say no difference (at least no difference in flavour). Can anyone point to some experiments?

    I always bitter with high alpha to reduce losses in the kettle, unless I am doing a SMaSH or a traditional style with very little hop additions. Here is a link to a home brewer who does some fun exbeeriments. Don't take it as gospel, but usually they are done quite objectively.

      I've always followed the high alpha acid, low cohumulone and low price rule for bittering additions.
