  • TTB Shut Down

With the shutdown of the federal government most functions of the TTB will cease. This includes the processing of COLAs, formula submissions and all permitting functions.

According to their web site, “there will be no access to TTB's eGovernment applications including, but not limited to, Permits Online, Formulas Online, and COLAs online.

Additionally the web site states that "no personnel will be available to respond to any inquiries, including emails, telephone calls, facsimiles, or other communications.”

I am sorry to hear about not being able to apply, but paying rent. We are paying rent too, but snuck our application in under the wire a couple of weeks ago. I am guessing we will have an extended wait. Let's hope this gets resolved quickly!

            Petition

We've had our application pending for over 70 days, and now it's on hold due to this shutdown. We're losing money like crazy. I wonder if we should write a petition or open letter to congress to get this thing over with. We can get the signature of all the breweries who have apps pending. Maybe even the BA can help out. I think if we get the word out, even to news outlets it might create some momentum. The longer the shutdown lasts the less beer there will be. Anyone interested in this?

It has been reported on Fox News. Any regulated industry is in a similar position.

That's outstanding, thanks for the link! Going to share this with our followers. Still think I'm going to get a letter to our state reps signed by the breweries in CT. They need to feel the pressure directly. Anyone know if the BA had put something official together? I think they have a small lobby

Funny, pay.gov works just fine. You can pay the money but you can't use the services. Nice.

                    TTB Experiences

Hello all - We're currently waiting for our TTB approval/permit. It's been about 60 days, we got through the 'accepted' stage rather quickly, but it hasn't changed status since then. The average days for March approvals was 96, so I'm not holding my breath.

Can anyone shed some light on this process? If we had issues with paperwork or anything would it have come to light by now? I can't help but they they simply don't prioritize anything and just put off approving these things as long as possible. At this point it's not holding us up, but as soon as we get the building and we're going to start losing money if we can't brew.

not answering your question but thought you might be interested in seeing our status we just posted on a different thread:

                      Submitted 1/30
                      assigned to specialist TBD 2/4
                      email once a month
march - get a reply they will get to ours eventually
two voicemails left since filing - never a call back
4-18 - 79 days - still waiting no sign of anything

our brewery is built and ready to brew as of today, really sucks...

So I'm about 70 days now and still haven't heard anything, still 'accepted'. Based on your info that they will reach out if there's a problem, that's probably a good sign.

Luckily, we're not ready to brew yet so it's not hurting us...yet.

Beer-Me - your situation is obviously different as you're ready to start making beer. Any updates/news? We applied at similar times, so I'd suspect we would get approved in a similar number of days.

I was contacted by my case worker for a couple simple questions. I think I will be in manager review very soon if all goes well.

                          Today will be 100 days

When you say 100 days, is that working business days or total days? I'm hoping total days, because we're getting awfully close to having the building, rent, etc and it would really suck to not be allowed to brew.
